The Process
Joining forces to understand and develop an in-house mobile app.
The process began with a team of professionals, each bringing unique skills to address the project’s, the customer’s, and the business’s specific needs. This team, including members from UX, marketing, and software development (the 'Mob' development team), was dedicated to defining and creating Luxor’s first-ever in-house mobile app.
As the Lead UX Designer on this project, I began by gathering business and technical requirements and gaining a solid understanding of our users. My approach involved addressing the why, defining the what, identifying the who, and determining the success.
- The Why: Define the company’s vision for developing an in-house mobile app that aligns with strategic business goals, enhances user engagement, and reduces dependency on external resources.
- The Who: Identify and understand the target users through detailed personas and user journeys, leveraging marketing insights and feedback from industry professionals who interact with current customers.
- The Success: Determine the anticipated outcomes of the mobile app redesign, including enhanced user experience for existing users, increased appeal to new users, and ultimately, higher engagement and satisfaction.
I organized several interview-formatted meetings with industry professionals and conducted a card sorting exercise to gather valuable insights. Based on these insights, I developed the information architecture of the app, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and a design prototype for the final product (view prototype below). Each design underwent a thorough approval process, including a rigorous review of every step in the UX process by key project stakeholders and a committee of industry professionals. The designs were also hallway tested by individuals who were unfamiliar with the app, providing unbiased feedback on the app's expectations and capabilities.

In addition to the UX work, I also built a website housing all Luxor Controller App UX design deliverables I contributed to, ensuring a smooth development and implementation process.
